Testing For Migration

We have highlighted 5 sub-sites that will act as testers for the upcoming migration. These are:

Questromworld, Udc, Grad, Tech, Faculty.

Alessio will transfer each one of those onto Kinsta and test for issues, broken links, broken plugins, obstacles and anything not behaving the way it should. Notes will be taken along the way.

Here below is the Standard Operating Procedure to follow when transferring each site.

Standard Operating Procedure – Set New Network on Kinsta

On the new Kinsta site, as network admin:

• Make sure the new site has the Enfold theme installed.
  • You can install from https://themeforest.net/ and you will need our username and password to do it. Ask Steve to have those.
  • Network Activate the theme.
• Add Network Title
• Add Network Admin Email
• Install WordPress importer. Run WordPress importer.
• Authorize txt files for upload.
• Install plugins. At the moment these have been tested:
  • NETWORK ACTIVATED
    • Disable Gutenberg
    • Enable Media Replace
    • Multisite Enhancements
    • Post Types Order
    • Post Views Counter
    • Tabs – Responsive Tabs with WooCommerce Product Tab Extension
    • WP SVG icons
  • NOT NETWORK ACTIVATED
    • BU Navigation
    • Page Links To
    • Safe Redirect Manager (used by Grad and Tech site)
    • Tablepress
    • TablePress Extension: DataTables ColumnFilterWidgets (download via link and upload zip file)
    • TablePress Extension: Row Filtering (download via link and upload zip file)
• Settings -> Reading. Tick the box to disable search engine crawling.
• Install Gravity Forms.
  • This requires our account and an extra license. On hold for now.

On existing site:

• Tools -> export -> All content
  • This will download an XML file on your machine.
• Enfold -> import/export -> Export theme settings files
  • This will download a .txt file on your machine.

Again on the new Kinsta site:

• Activate Enfold Theme
• Tools -> WordPress importer -> upload XML file
  • Imported Files
    • There will not be the original users. Assign authors to current logged in admin.
  • Don’t forget to tick “download and import file attachments” or your media will not be imported
• Enfold -> import/export -> Upload Theme settings file
  • Change frontpage settings to “welcome”
